Bel Aire, Kansas is a suburb of Wichita, located about 10 miles away in the northeast of the city, between State Route 254 and State Route 96. The suburb was first created in 1955, and incorporated as a city in 1980, as the population rose.

The median income of a household in the city was $66,937, making this a wealthier suburb in the area. Only 3.7% of families and 4.8% of the population live below the poverty line, partially due to the low cost of living in the area.
